How the Daily Loss Limit Is Worked Out
The daily loss limit is 5% on every programme and resets each day at 5:00 PM New York time. On all three programmes, including Instant Funding, it is worked out from the greater of the previous day's closing balance or equity at the reset.
- If you end the day with open positions in profit, equity is higher than balance, so equity sets the next day's limit.
- With no open positions, or positions in a loss, the balance is used.
Example: if your account closed the day at $100,000 with no open profit, today's limit is $5,000 and you breach it if your equity reaches $95,000. Open trades count, so watch floating losses as well as closed ones.
How Your Drawdown Floor Is Worked Out
The maximum drawdown is the lowest your closed balance can go before the account is breached.
| Programme | Maximum drawdown | Floor on a $100,000 account |
|---|---|---|
| 1-Step | 6% static | $94,000 |
| 2-Step | 8% static | $92,000 |
| Instant Funding | 8% trailing | $92,000 to start |
A static floor never moves. On Instant Funding the floor follows your highest closed balance by the same $8,000: at $102,000 it rises to $94,000, and once you reach $108,000 it locks at your $100,000 starting balance for good.
How Payouts Are Worked Out
Your first withdrawal can be requested at any time, then once every 30 days. You can request up to your profit split of the profit in the account, and you receive your split of what you withdraw. River Valley Capital takes its share from the account at the same time.
Example: you grow a $100,000 account to $120,000 and request $16,000. At the standard 80% split you receive $12,800, River Valley Capital keeps $3,200 and your balance drops to $104,000. With the 90% Profit Split Upgrade you could request up to $18,000.
After an approved payout your drawdown floor locks at your starting balance, unless you have the Remove Lock on Payout add-on. In the example that leaves a $4,000 buffer, which is less than the next day's $5,200 loss limit, so one bad day could cause a hard breach and close the funded account. You may request the full amount, but we recommend keeping at least one full day's loss limit above the floor. The calculator above shows that recommended amount for your account: $14,736 in this example. This is our guidance, not a River Valley Capital rule.
1-Step and 2-Step accounts have no minimum withdrawal. On Instant Funding the minimum is $100 or 1% of the starting balance, whichever is higher.
Profit Targets by Programme
- 1-Step: 10% to pass, for example $10,000 on a $100,000 account.
- 2-Step: 8% in phase 1 and 5% in phase 2.
- Instant Funding: no evaluation, so no profit target.
There is no time limit and no minimum number of trading days on 1-Step and 2-Step. Funded accounts have no profit target. Compare account sizes and fees on the accounts page, and read every rule in the FAQ.
