Not every trader wants to follow the same evaluation path. Some prefer a single challenge, others want two defined phases, while others look for a programme without a traditional evaluation. Understanding the trade-offs before checkout can help you avoid choosing an account with rules that conflict with your strategy.
A single assessment phase with a defined profit target and static drawdown rules. Designed for traders who prefer one set of evaluation objectives.
A structured assessment with two separate profit targets. Review both phases and their risk conditions before deciding whether this route fits your trading process.
An alternative programme structure without the usual challenge stages. It has its own account rules, including a trailing drawdown model.
A headline account size or profit split does not tell you how an account works. Evaluation targets, daily loss limits, maximum drawdown and payout conditions can materially change the way a trading strategy performs under a programme's rules.

The most useful prop firm comparison starts with eligibility, transparent rules and the real cost of participation. UK-focused search results often include independent rankings, but a trader also needs to understand the exact terms of the programme they intend to purchase.
Before purchasing, confirm whether your country of residence is supported, whether the programme has any jurisdiction restrictions and what information is required during registration. A website using a .co.uk domain does not by itself establish that a firm is incorporated in the UK or authorised by a UK regulator.
Traders should read the contracting entity's details and applicable account agreement, and check whether the programme uses simulated trading.
Compare the one-time evaluation fee or programme purchase price alongside the account size, permitted instruments and trading conditions. Optional add-ons can change the total cost, so check the final checkout summary rather than comparing only advertised starting prices.
River Valley Capital's Accounts page shows the current account sizes and prices for each programme.
A platform should fit your workflow, charting needs and execution preferences. River Valley Capital offers cTrader, DXtrade, MatchTrader and PropX (formerly GooeyPro). Check which platforms are available for the account you select.
Profit targets determine what an evaluation requires; drawdown rules determine how much room a trader has to manage risk. Compare both together. A lower target is not automatically a better programme if other restrictions do not suit the strategy.
Review when a payout can first be requested, whether subsequent requests follow a schedule, what profit split applies and whether minimum thresholds or additional conditions exist. Identity verification and compliance reviews may be required before any payment is processed.
Check whether the selected account permits holding trades during major economic releases or over weekends. Also read any restrictions on automated strategies, copy trading, latency arbitrage or other prohibited activity. Different programmes can apply different rules.
Look for a clear support contact, response expectations and accessible legal documents. If an account is breached or a payout is declined, traders should know which written policy governs the decision and how to raise a query.
Maximum drawdown is one of the most consequential rules in a funded trading programme. Two accounts with the same nominal size can behave very differently when their drawdown calculations are not the same.
A static drawdown limit uses a reference level defined by the programme and does not automatically move higher each time the trader earns a profit. This can make the permitted loss boundary easier to track, although daily loss limits and other restrictions still apply. River Valley Capital's 1-Step and 2-Step programmes use static maximum drawdown.
A trailing drawdown limit can move as the account reaches higher reference balances, according to the programme's formula. River Valley Capital's Instant Funding programme uses an 8% trailing drawdown based on closed balance. Traders should verify whether the calculation uses balance or equity, how the threshold moves and whether it ever stops trailing.
Before entering a trade, calculate how much loss capacity remains under both the daily limit and the overall maximum drawdown. Do not assume the larger number controls: breaching either condition may lead to an account violation. Review how floating positions, commissions and the programme's daily reset time affect these calculations. Our prop firm drawdown calculator works out both limits in dollars for any River Valley Capital account size.
A programme should publish its calculation method and breach examples in its official trading rules. If the explanation is unclear, request clarification before paying a challenge fee.
A single-phase challenge may appeal to a trader who wants one evaluation target and a straightforward route through assessment. However, the target and drawdown allowance should be considered together. A trader using a strategy with larger temporary fluctuations may need to examine whether the static loss boundary is suitable.
A two-phase structure separates evaluation into two milestones. It can provide a more gradual assessment process, but also requires meeting a second set of objectives. Compare the total journey, account rules and fee rather than assuming a smaller first-stage target makes the programme easier.
Instant Funding removes the traditional evaluation stage, but it does not remove risk limits or payout conditions. Traders should pay particular attention to trailing drawdown, strategy restrictions and the way profit eligibility is calculated. A programme without a challenge is not the same as unrestricted trading.
Review average trade duration, expected drawdowns, position sizing and how frequently your strategy trades during high-impact news. Select a programme only after comparing these characteristics with its written rules. The most suitable structure depends on your method, not just a headline profit split.
River Valley Capital's standard profit split is 80%, with a 90% profit split available as an add-on. The final percentage depends on the selected account and the terms shown at purchase. A profit split is not a guarantee that a payout will be earned or approved.
Before selecting a programme, verify the first payout eligibility date, the timing of subsequent requests, any minimum payout amount, required identity documents and any rules relating to prohibited strategies or account breaches. These terms are part of the commercial decision and should be easy to locate before checkout.
UK traders should also consider that payout processing, currency conversion and personal tax treatment may depend on individual circumstances. If necessary, traders can seek independent professional guidance.
Read the full payout and trading rules in the FAQ before you buy.
A clear purchase journey helps traders understand what they are agreeing to and reduces confusion after checkout. Follow these steps before entering any River Valley Capital programme.
Read the 1-Step, 2-Step and Instant Funding descriptions. Compare evaluation phases, profit targets, maximum drawdown, permitted strategies and payout eligibility.
Open the account selector and check the available sizes, platforms, challenge fees and optional add-ons. Confirm that the selected configuration matches your trading requirements.
Read the contractual terms, trading rules, refund provisions and identity requirements. Confirm UK eligibility and the contracting entity before completing payment.
Complete the evaluation if your programme requires one, or follow the Instant Funding conditions if you select that option. Monitor risk limits and review payout requirements before submitting a request.
Yes. River Valley Capital accepts traders from all countries except OFAC-listed ones, subject to applicable laws and the company's discretion. You must be at least 18 years old and responsible for meeting any rules that apply in the UK.
The Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) regulates financial services in the UK. A funded trading programme is a private commercial arrangement, not an FCA-regulated investment product, so check who you are contracting with and search the firm on the FCA Register and Warning List before you pay.
UK funded traders are independent contractors responsible for their own tax. HMRC may treat trading income as taxable depending on your circumstances, so confirm your position with a UK accountant.
The daily loss limit resets at 5:00 PM New York time, which is about 10:00 PM in the UK. The UK and New York move their clocks together, so the local time stays roughly the same year-round.
Fees, account sizes and payouts are in US dollars, paid and withdrawn by bank wire, Rise or crypto. Your bank or card converts to pounds, so the GBP amount depends on the exchange rate on the day.
The London session opens in your morning and the New York session in your afternoon, the busiest window for US pairs and indices. Leverage is up to 50:1 on forex, 10:1 on gold and indices, 5:1 on other metals, 1:1 on oil and 2:1 on crypto.
Reach your programme's profit target without breaking the 5% daily loss limit or the maximum drawdown. Track the daily reset at about 10:00 PM UK time and avoid opening trades within 3 minutes of a news event.
Account sizes run from $5,000 to $500,000 in US dollars, so your pound cost moves with the exchange rate. Pick the size whose daily loss limit matches how much you are comfortable risking in a day.
River Valley Capital accounts run on cTrader, DXtrade, MatchTrader and PropX (formerly GooeyPro). Your own expert advisors and strategies are allowed within the prohibited-trading rules.
Assessments are run by Prop Account LLC, which receives the fee and signs the Trader Agreement with you if you qualify. River Valley Capital is the trading name of Xaura Evaluation Limited, a London company that remains responsible for its claims about the evaluations. Challenge fees and add-ons are non-refundable.
